RM50,000 Contribution to National Sports Trust Fund
KUALA LUMPUR, 15 JULY 2025 – At the launch of the all-new Chery TIGGO CROSS (on 9 July), Chery Malaysia announced a significant step forward in its commitment to community development by contributing RM50,000 to the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN).
The contribution reflects the brand’s ongoing mission to support and celebrate Malaysian talent — both on the road and in the sporting arena.
This initiative is more than a one-time gesture. Chery Malaysia also revealed that a portion of the proceeds from every Chery TIGGO CROSS sold this year will be channelled to KWASN, ensuring continuous support for national sports development.
“At Chery, we believe performance goes beyond vehicles — it’s about empowering people. Through this initiative, we aim to support more Malaysian athletes and local sports organisations in reaching greater heights. This contribution marks our ongoing commitment to Malaysian sports and ensuring that homegrown talents continue to excel on the international stage,” said Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia.
This latest contribution builds on Chery Malaysia’s growing involvement in the local sports landscape. In 2024, the company proudly rewarded Malaysian medallists from the Paris Olympic Games with new vehicles — a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and success on the world stage.
KWASN, is a public trust fund established to provide grants for the organisation of sports programmes and activities at both national and international levels. It also supports athletes’ participation (be it under national associations or independent) in international competitions and aims to improve their world rankings. The fund helps ensure more Malaysians have access to structured sporting opportunities, world-class training, and the resources they need to compete at the highest levels.
The trust fund is managed under the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and is governed by a committee that includes representative from the Ministry of Finance, ensuring accountability, transparency, and integrity in financial management.
Chery Malaysia recognises the importance of private-sector involvement in shaping the future of Malaysian sports and encourages more brands to join hands in creating a thriving ecosystem of talent and opportunity.
As part of Chery’s commitment to youth development, the brand believes in nurturing young talent as the key to shaping Malaysia’s future. Through active collaboration with local sports associations, Chery supports a wide range of grassroots initiatives from badminton and football to cycling, running, and pickleball, encouraging healthier lifestyles and stronger communities.
Since its unveiling, the TIGGO CROSS has received over 1,000 bookings, signalling strong demand from Malaysian drivers who appreciate a balance of smart design, hybrid innovation, and dynamic performance. The TIGGO CROSS is attractively priced at RM88,800 (WM) for the 1.5L Turbo variant and at RM99,800 (WM) for the 1.5L Hybrid CSH. Both variants are now open for viewing and test drives at all Chery showrooms nationwide.
