Chery Malaysia Surpasses 30,000 Sales Milestone while Driving Industry Growth, Electrification and Community Partnerships

January 06, 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 JANUARY 2026 — Chery Malaysia marked a significant milestone less  than three years after entering the Malaysian market, driven by strong customer acceptance  and a steadily expanding product lineup.

At the end of last year, the brand recorded 30,073 cumulative vehicle sales, its rapid rise and  reinforcing its position as one of Malaysia’s fastest-growing automotive players.

Chery’s growth was evident from its first six months in 2023, during which the automotive  company sold 4,501 vehicles between June and December.

This momentum continued year after year, resulting in a strong close last year with 12,930  units delivered to Malaysian customers.

Growing Product Line-Up to Meet Diverse Customer Needs

Chery’s product evolution in Malaysia mirrors its global direction, beginning with internal  combustion engine (ICE) models, OMODA 5 and TIGGO 8 PRO before rapidly advancing into  electrified mobility. The introduction of the OMODAE5 in March 2024 marked the brand’s entry  into the electric vehicle segment.

This was followed by the expansion of the TIGGO series through the TIGGO 7 PRO, TIGGO  CROSS TURBO and TIGGO CROSS Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), before the brand  ventured into the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) segment with the TIGGO 7 PHEV and TIGGO 8 PHEV.  With each new introduction, Chery has demonstrated its commitment to providing Malaysians  with innovative, premium safety and future-forward automotive technology.

Central to Chery’s success in Malaysia was the OMODA 5 (launched in 2023), which quickly  became the Chery’s best-performing model and played a significant role in establishing  Chery’s strong foothold in the automotive market.

Building on its remarkable success, Chery introduced the TIGGO series to meet the diverse  needs of everyday drivers—from young families to those seeking spacious, versatile vehicles  for enhanced comfort. Originally launched with ICE models, the series quickly evolved to  include HEV and PHEV variants within the same year, powered by Chery’s cutting-edge Super  Hybrid (CSH) technology. Today, the TIGGO lineup boasts six dynamic models and stands as  a major contributor for Chery Malaysia’s vehicle sales in 2025 amid a market shift toward new  energy vehicles.

Purpose-driven Community Engagements

Beyond vehicle sales, Chery Malaysia has extended its impact through meaningful community  initiatives. Following the fire incident in Putra Heights, Selangor saw Chery stepped in to  support affected families by loaning Chery vehicles to 50 homeowners.

This support, which arrived within the same week of the tragedy, allowed residents to move  their belongings, travel for daily needs and manage temporary relocation. The quick action  was warmly received as one of the most timely and practical ways to help during an  unexpected crisis, showing Chery’s genuine commitment to supporting local communities  when it matters most.

Chery Malaysia has also contributed to national development through its support of the  National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

This initiative is designed to strengthen the local sports ecosystem by funding national and  international sporting events, fostering athlete participation and supporting programmes that  develop young talent. Chery’s involvement in events such as the recent Asian Youth Para  Games and the Paris Olympic Games, further reflects its dedication to inclusivity and the  empowerment of local athletes.

In efforts to bridge the gap between education and employment for skilled workers, Chery  Malaysia teamed up with the Belia Mahir Project to help graduates transition smoothly into the

workforce, offering opportunities to work at Chery and contribute to Malaysia’s automotive  industry.

Regional Manufacturing Hub in Malaysia

This year, Chery Malaysia looks forward to continued development driven by the Chery Smart  Auto Industrial Park in Lembah Beringin, Selangor, which will serve as a key pillar of its long term strategy. The RM2.2bil facility covering over 200-acres will set to enhance localisation,  expand production capacity and create economic opportunities, with its first phase scheduled  for completion in the 1H 2026.

International Success Continues to Steer the Brand Forward

Chery Group closed 2025 with total sales of 2.806 million vehicles, 7.8% year-on-year and  maintaining its position as China’s top automotive exporter with 1.344 million units shipped.  The Group also achieved four major breakthroughs across total sales, exports, new energy  performance and quality recognition.

These achievements were driven by progress across Chery’s five strategic directions: new  fuel vehicles, new energy vehicles, global expansion, strategic collaborations, and accelerated  innovation in areas such as electrification, intelligent systems, and next-generation robotics.

With the Chery brand gaining stronger global visibility, reflected in its rise to 233rd on the  Fortune Global 500 and its successful Hong Kong listing (Chery Automobile), the Chery Group enters 2026 with a focus on steady, sustainable progress, aiming to grow ahead of the industry  while continuing to deliver value and innovation to customers worldwide.
