KUALA LUMPUR, 12 FEBRUARY 2026 – Chery Malaysia has announced the next phase of its product strategy, placing the TIGGO series at the forefront of its 2026 plans as the brand continues strengthening its footprint in the Malaysian SUV market.
Building on a successful rollout of TIGGO models since 2023, Chery will continue to expand its Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) portfolio while maintaining the TIGGO nameplate as its core product focus.
Chery’s entry into Malaysia in 2023 marked the beginning of a strong SUV-led strategy. The brand made its debut with OMODA 5 and the flagship TIGGO 8 PRO.
The following year, Malaysians were greeted by the TIGGO 7 PRO, further strengthening the TIGGO family’s footprint in Malaysia. Alongside this, Chery also introduced its first battery-electric model, the OMODA E5, signalling the brand’s presence in electrification.
In 2025, Chery broadened the TIGGO lineup even further with the launch of TIGGO CROSS,which was offered in both Turbo (ICE) and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) variants, and the introduction of the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology.
Later that year, Chery deepened its electrification strategy with the introduction of the TIGGO 7 PHEV and TIGGO 8 PHEV, making the TIGGO series one of the most comprehensive SUV families available—offering petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The growing appeal of Chery’s electrified TIGGO models saw CSH variants contribute 21% of the brand’s total sales in 2025, with ICE models accounting for 79%.
“For 2026, we anticipate that our CSH products will grow to represent 30% of our sales mix, driven by rising interest in advanced hybrid vehicles among Malaysians,” said Lee Wen Hsiang, Vice President of Chery Malaysia at the recent Chery CSH Appreciation event.
He also reaffirmed that the TIGGO series will remain the core focus of Chery Malaysia’s product strategy in the coming year, with CSH technology continuing to guide the brand’s progressive direction.
Chery Malaysia is gearing up for an exciting product line-up in 2026, starting with the recent launch of the entry-level TIGGO 8 in January.
Building on this momentum, the brand will introduce its new flagship luxury model in the second quarter of 2026, elevating its SUV presence in Malaysia.
During the event, Lee shared that in the third quarter, Chery will see two new additions to its lineup. While details remain under wraps, the first model is described as offering enhanced performance and versatility. The second model teased is positioned as a youthful evolution of the brand’s design direction, created for style-conscious customers seeking individuality and vibrant personality.
Chery is also preparing an additional introduction in the final quarter of 2026. Centred around the latest advancements in CSH technology, this upcoming model underscores the brand’s growing commitment to electrified mobility in Malaysia.
Lee further emphasised that its expanded 2026 portfolio is supported by a remarkable cumulative sales achievement of 30,073 units from 2023 to 2025, driven by strong customer acceptance, an expanding dealer network, and a rapidly diversifying product portfolio.
The performance of the TIGGO family has been especially notable, with its contribution rising from 16% in 2023, to 37% in 2024, before reaching 66% in 2025. Together with the OMODA series, Chery closed 2025 with total sales of 12,930 units.
Strengthening Presence and Enhancing Customer Experience
Chery’s nationwide footprint continues to grow in tandem with its sales success, supported by a solid network of 59 sales centres, 54 aftersales facilities, and 25 body and paint outlets across Malaysia.
Rather than expanding excessively, the brand is focused on strengthening the capabilities of its existing outlets to ensure higher service quality and improved customer satisfaction.
This strategic approach allows each location to deliver more attentive care, better operational consistency, and an elevated ownership experience.
Chery is also undergoing a significant transformation in retail identity with the rollout of its Generation 4 showroom design.
The first outlet to adopt this upgraded look is Chery Perai in Penang which now features a more premium and modern presence with its black steel structural elements, the updated Chery logo, expanded interior layout, and a visually striking waterfall blue facade lighting.
This refined and contemporary design language will gradually expand across Chery’s network, with future 3S and 4S centres set to adopt the new Generation 4 identity as part of the brand’s long-term commitment to a superior customer experience.
Chery Triumphs at Malaysia Car of the Year 2025 Awards
Chery’s commitment to innovation and electrified excellence was recognised at the prestigious Malaysia Car of the Year 2025 awards, where the brand secured two significant national accolades.
The Chery TIGGO Cross HEV was honoured as the Crossover xEV of the Year (Below RM120,000) while the Chery TIGGO 8 PHEV was crowned the Most Energy Efficient Vehicle for 2025.
“We are especially proud to see the TIGGO Cross HEV resonate so strongly with Malaysian drivers, alongside the TIGGO 8 PHEV. These awards reflect the strength of our electrified technology, from intelligent power management to the seamless balance of strong performance and impressive fuel efficiency.
“For us, this also reinforces that we are bringing the right products to meet the needs of our customers, while reflecting Chery’s growing role in electrified mobility and our ability to meet Malaysia’s evolving expectations for energy-efficient and eco-conscious vehicles, ” adds Lee.
