Chery Reaches New Heights with Lembah Beringin Topping-Out

June 26, 2026

KUALA KUBU BAHARU, 25 JUNE 2026 — Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“Chery”) today marked a key milestone in its Malaysian expansion with the topping-out ceremony of Phase 1 of the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park in Lembah Beringin.

This milestone signifies the structural completion of Chery’s assembly plant set to be its largest facility in Malaysia — reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the local automotive industry and its confidence in Malaysia as a strategic regional hub.

The ceremony was attended by the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari, and Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility, YB Ng Sze Han who witnessed the symbolic placement of the final roof tile alongside Chery’s management team.

Spanning 200 acres, the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park represents an investment of RM2.2 billion and is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting Chery’s growing presence in Malaysia and across ASEAN.

Driven by strong demand, Chery’s multi-brand portfolio in Malaysia, including Chery, OMODA JAECOO, iCAUR, and the upcoming Lepas brand, continues to gain momentum, reflecting rising consumer confidence and brand recognition.

Once completed, the facility will enhance Chery’s capabilities in assembly, innovation and customer delivery, while supporting its multi-brand strategy and contributing to the broader automotive ecosystem.

Menteri Besar of Selangor, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari said, “This new chapter for Lembah Beringin, with Chery Malaysia as one of its anchors, can spur the town forward by rapidly developing new supply chains, reducing business operation and travel times, and ultimately creating better-quality jobs for Selangorians.”

Located along Selangor’s automotive corridor, construction of the plant, began shortly after its groundbreaking in 2025. The plant is expected to deliver meaningful economic benefits, including job creation, skills development, and expanded opportunities for local suppliers and partners, further strengthening Malaysia’s position in the regional automotive value chain.

At the event, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility, YB Ng Sze Han said the Selangor State Government plans to develop a dedicated automotive valley across Serendah and Lembah Beringin, anchored by Chery’s investment.

He said the state’s ambition was to have a complete automotive city. “It is where carmakers, component suppliers, research, and training sit side by side, and where the supply chain is built and kept here in Selangor. Chery’s arrival is the first major step towards that vision,” adds Ng.

Following the structural completion, the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park (Phase 1) will progress to interior works, system installations and operational readiness. The facility remains on track for completion, with operations expected to commence next year.

As demand continues to grow across its brands, Chery is accelerating its momentum in Malaysia, driven by its commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality mobility solutions.

“Today’s topping-out ceremony marks an important milestone for Chery in Malaysia. It reflects not only the progress of this project, but also our strong confidence in the Malaysian market and its potential as a regional hub,” said Michael Chew, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Fleet Sales of Chery Corporate Malaysia.

The soon to be completed plant is set to become a cornerstone of Chery’s long-term growth strategy in the region, strengthening its ability to serve customers while contributing to Malaysia’s industrial development.
