SUBANG JAYA, 4 APRIL – Chery Corporate Malaysia has donated RM50,000 to the Putra Heights Mosque to support its temporary evacuation centre efforts following the recent gas inferno incident in Putra Heights, Selangor.
The Putra Heights Mosque, which has been providing shelter to around 80 families since the incident, is also grappling with rising utility costs as it continues to support those in need. Chery hopes that the RM50,000 donation will help ease the mosque’s burden as it continues to provide shelter and support to displaced families during this challenging time.
Chery Corporate Malaysia’s management team – Chery Corporate Malaysia Vice President Cheng Nam Weng and Chery Corporate Malaysia Executive Vice President Leo Chen handed over the donation to the Manager of the Putra Heights Mosque, Abdul Hadi Hidzan. The brief ceremony held at the mosque was attended by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Minister of Digital YB Gobind Singh Deo and Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility YB Ng Sze Han.
Chery also handed over the first batch of keys to its fleet of Chery vehicles (25 cars) for the one-month temporary vehicle loan programme which the automotive company announced on Wednesday (2 April). The remaining vehicles will be handed over early next week.
The loan programme intends to assist families affected, offering temporary transportation to help them regain stability and receive essential services such as daily commuting, attending medical appointments, and caring for their families and sending their children to school.
The programme was coordinated together with the offices of Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility YB Ng Sze Han and the local authorities who are overseeing the relief efforts. As part of Chery’s corporate social responsibility, Chery Corporate Malaysia also provided RM100 in fuel assistance to each vehicle recipient.
